Eddie Costelloe, Owner. A brief history of Eddie’s sporting career: Eddie has been involved in sport all his life and has achieved a high level throughout. In Limerick he played Rugby for Young Munster Rugby Football Club at scrum half, where he won two Munster Senior Cup Medals, and was in the famous Young Munster team that won the first Munster Senior Cup in forty two (42) years in 1980. Eddie represented the now world famous province of Munster at all levels from the first under 20 team to the Senior team.
During the period 1984 to ’87 Eddie lived in Dublin where he played rugby for Lansdowne Football Club and during this period he was capped for the province of Leinster, and is one of the very players that played for both Munster and Leinster in that era. He played for the Irish Wolfhounds in 1986 at Bangor Rugby Club and De La Salle Palmersown. At Lansdowne his very good friend Mick Quinn introduced him to Naas Botha, the legendary goal kicker from South Africa, for a goal kicking clinic. He immediately changed his style and his percentages and went on the kick for every team he played for in Australia. When Mike Kiernan was announced as the goalkicker for Ireland both he and Eddie spent every day in Lansdowne Road for the four weeks leading up to his first international,(as a kicker) and Mike went on to be one of the greats.
In 1987 he returned to Limerick where he played for Garryowen Football Club. Later that year at the age of 29 he moved to Sydney, Australia and returned temporarily to Ireland in 1999 and permanently in 2001. While in Australia he played rugby for a period and then turned his talents to coaching rugby. He became club coach for several clubs and was also the specialist goal kicking coach for the South Sydney Juniors which are the feeder club to the famous South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League team.
Playing golf as a pastime in Australia Eddie only really started playing with a passion on his return. He joined the Rathbane Golf Club and both he and his partner Jude, were Club Captains in 2006. His playing handicap is five (5). To date he has won five Junior Scratch Cups. He was also involved with the running of The First Tee of Ireland which was first set up in Ireland in two clubs 1. Druids Glen and 2. Rathbane.

Eddie's Resume
1973/1980
Apprentice/Electrician.
1980/1987
Eddie worked as a salesman in the Office Equipment Industry mainly Postal and Paper Handling equipment, based in Limerick and later in Dublin.
1987/1999
Eddie emigrated to Sydney, Australia where he continued his sales career in the same industry and became New South Wales and Queensland State Sales Manager. He then had a change in direction and became a self-employed agent mainly selling photocopiers and facsimile machines. A chance opportunity allowed him to add an AAPT agency for telecommunications and it wasn’t long before the telecoms became the main business. Eddie had retired from playing rugby in 1993 and spent the next few years coaching teams. In October 1996 Rugby Union turned professional and in late 1997 Eddie set up a sports management business acting on behalf of Australian Internationals; John Welborn, Warwick Waugh and Tom Bowman. Through some business and rugby contacts he was awarded a contract to represent a sports apparel company, Logo Sports and he secured the contract to supply the ACT Brumbies and ACT Rugby with all their rugby apparel. In fact the ACT Logo of the wild Brumby was the brainchild of Rod Macqueen and through some clever negotiating and teamwork between Rod and Eddie they convinced the ACT management that that was the way to go. Eddie's move to Ireland brought an end to my business interests in Australia and his telecoms contract allowed for the sale of the business to AAPT which was finalised in 2001.
