Course Description:
As with several other Golf Clubs that have sprung up in the relative recent past, such as Navan, Gowran Park and Leopardstown, Down Royal has developed its golf club around the 150 acres within Down Royal Race Course. It affiliated to the GUI in 1996 and was designed by K. Stewart & Assoc. in 1990, using the most up-to-date technology on a sandy loam soil making it playable all year round.
As a result of its low membership the visitor is almost assured of getting a green fee at most times for a very reasonable fee. Down Royal is located in the Lagan Valley admits a rural setting. Besides a fine clubhouse there is a 40-bedroom wing attached making it an ideal base when visiting the area.
