Course Description:

Kilmashogue Golf Club was re-kindled in 1995 having last been in existence in 1911, located in the grounds of St. Columba's College and nestling on the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. The revival of Kilmashogue was driven by Peter Jackson and the club has had made major advances since 1995 and a new clubhouse is shortly to begin. Located in Rathfarnham, the neighbourhood of Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley, Rathfarnham has the highest density of golf clubs than any other part of the country. Together with Kilmashogue, there are Castle, Rathfarnham, Edmondstown, Grange, The Par-3 in Marley Park, Ballinascorney and Stackstown all within a good drive of each other.

Club History

Mr. O’Brien-Butler, a well-known Irish composer, retained the services of Mr. Pickeman of Portmarnock, to lay out a nine-hole course on his estate at Kilmashogue in 1909. It was a proprietary club and relatively inaccessible. The club foundered and many of its members left and formed Grange Golf Club, including its then President. Golf was not played at Kilmashogue after 1911 until a new club was founded in 1994, the main mover being Peter Jackson.

Location

Follow the sign-posts for St. Columba's College, when you enter the College grounds the clubhouse is on your right-hand-side.
