Club History

Instituted 1894 affiliated 1894

Although the present Club dates from 1905, it would appear there was an earlier club in Ballinasloe as the Irish Golfer of 11th October states that "A Club was formed in 1894 and links were procured near the town, in some pasture fields long lain fallow"

In the Golfing Annual 1909-10, the Hon Secretary is given as P. S. Goodwin and the course is given as nine-hole course half a mile from the station. The land was given free by the Earl of Cloncarty at Garbally Demesne. The course was designed by Lionel Hewson, and looked after by Father Cogavin. The Club moved to its present location at Rosgloss, in 1937.

Location

Three miles outside, Ballinasloe on the Portumna road, off the N6. Keep your eyes open for signpost directing you left, beside rugby pitch.
