Course Description:

Co. Longford is the only golf club in the entire county founded in 1900. Eddie Hackett had a hand to play in extending and redesigning the course. However Mel Flanagan has carrying out major works at the course and it opened for play in May-June 2004. The clubhouse has all the facilities the golfer can require and a warm welcome awaits the visitor.

Club History

Instituted 1900, affiliated 1910. The early records of the club are missing and the earliest available are for 1913. The Golfing Annual 1909-10, tells us it was founded in 1900, with twenty members, the Captain was J. Boyers and the Hon. Secretary was S. Boyd, Ulster Bank , Longford. "The course of nine holes varying from 95 to 414 yd's is a mile from the station." The Irish Golfing Guide 1916 tells us, “The course is pleasantly situated and is given at a nominal rent by the Earl of Longford, who has generously provided a small clubhouse. "Play begins in October, and ends on May 1st." The GUI records give 24th February 1910 as the date of affiliation.
