Edenderry Golf Club has been in existence since 1910 having moved from several locations to its present location where Eddie Hackett designed a magnificent golf course built on the natural peat that is synonymous with this part of the country. Eddie used the natural terrain to create a superb golf course that is playable all year round. The course is particularly long at 5,899 metres but this is, compensated for by being a Par 73. There are four Par-3 at Edenderry each of which has its own challenge. The course has an abundance of mature trees and strategically placed bunkers making it a challenging, but fair test of golf for the experienced and beginner alike. Edenderry Golf Club has recently completed its state-of-the-art clubhouse, where the visitor and members alike can relax and enjoy the memory of a fine days golf. |

Instituted 1910, affiliated 1928. The Irish Field, 22nd October, 1910 reports "The Hon. Secretary for the new golf club at Edenderry, in Kings County, is a Mr. A. J. Roche and he informs us that the course will be open for play on 1st November. The course is over 2,400 yd's in length. Among the officials are Mr. T. O. K. White, Captain, Mr. R. G. Brown Treasurer. The fees are low and the club should have good support in the district". In 1916, the club was known as Edenderry and District Golf Club. It was located in various areas at Carrick and before that at The Derries. A magnificent new clubhouse has recently been opened.
