| Course Description: |
The Hibernian Golf Club with 450 members and founded in 1994,
plays its golf out of City West golf course. Christy O'Connor Jnr. designed
this magnificent golf course just outside the City limits in the village of
Saggart. Christy almost lost his life while working on the project as nearing
completion the helicopter in which Christy and his staff were travelling crashed
after take-off at the site.
The course has water coming into play on several
holes not least the last at 435 yards requires careful club selection to reach
the green in two as the water has to be cleared and out-of-bounds behind the
green. When the course was under construction the latest technology was used
in drainage and irrigation was used to make the course playable all year round.
City West has since constructed another 18-hole to a similar
standard as the original course.
The clubhouse facilities are second to none and the hotel is
one of the most popular in the country.

Achievements |
Eileen O'Driscoll won her section in the All-Ireland Lady Captains Prize
Winners and went to Portugal
for the Finals in May 2002.
Congratulations to Deborah
Carolan (20), who teamed up with Mick Moriarty (10) Dublin Mountain Golf Club,
to finish second in Irish Final of the Spar-Irish Independent Mixed Pairs Challenge
at Adare Manor Golf & Country Club. On the 25th of August they shot 54 points
to be one off the winners. However, it was enough to book their ticket for Tenerife
in November 2001, for the big shoot out. They qualified for the Finals at Westmanstown
Golf Club when they took the final slot with 54 points. They became the Mixed
Pairs National Golf champions at Golf del Sure championship course with a fine
score of 160 which was nine shots better than, their nearest rivals.
